Eat Out Without Ruining Your Weight Loss Program

How do you eat out and keep on your diet plan? Is it possible to eat out and enjoy it without sacrificing your weight loss goals? Does eating out mean far too many calories? Is it possible to find a healthy restaurant meal?

Yes, you can eat out and with a little planning eat healthy and keep your calories in check. Here are some ways to eat out without gaining weight.

1. Have the waiter remove the bread and rolls. Don't leave the bread basket on the table. If you see it, you will feel deprived and give into temptation. You are eating out to enjoy the main entree. Do not spoil it with empty calorie white rolls and butter.

2. Start with a large salad. But eliminate the salad dressing. If that is not possible for you, get the dressing on the side and use half of what you normally would.

3. Drink water. Don't go for the sugar laden sodas or alcoholic drinks. Water with a twist of lemon or lime is much better for you. And of course the calorie count is zero.

4. Chose a low fat entree. Skip butter, gravies, and cream sauces. Ask for skinless chicken. Many restaurants now mark their low fat entrees on the menu.

5. Order extra vegetables. Skip the french fries, onion rings and deep fried foods. Replace them with vegetables.

6. If your portion size is large, immediately ask the waiter to package half of it for you to take home. Or, consider sharing your main dish and your dessert.

7. Choose foods that are steamed, broiled, baked, roasted, poached, or stir-fried, but not deep fried.

With a little planning it's possible to eat a healthy meal at a restaurant. It's even possible to eat out without putting on any extra pounds. And it's possible to eat out without ruining your weight loss program. So go out and enjoy your meal.
